Amelia Earhart has been in the news again lately due to a 2 hour special recently aired by the History Channel, revolving around a photo purported to show Earhart and her navigator, Fred Noonan, on a dock on Saipan around the time they disappeared.

Turns out, the photo was actually published in a Japanese travel book in 1935, two full years before Earhart disappeared. ::sad trombone::

Also, according to The International Group for Historical Aircraft Recovery (TIGHAR), most of the other evidence in the special was old, previously debunked theories and inaccurate information. ::bigger sad trombone::
